Hawes Cycletouring August 2009
Pleased with the luggage, these are the bikes at the station, equipped with full camping load for the weekend.
After crossing the Ribblehead viaduct on the settle Carlisle line, – a first for our bikes, we cycled over Tan Hill stopping for lunch, and over Buttertubs Pass to Hawes to join fellow Todmorden Harriers who were competing in the Wenselydale Big Cheese Triathlon
On the way up Tan Hill
The following day at the Triathlon, George caused a sensation by winning the event outright. He is only 19 and this is his first triathlon event.
The previous night he could be seen in the green dragon pub, sewing up his borrowed tri suit to fit him better. Watch this space.
George is know to many in Hebden Bridge and Todmorden as the really good mechanic at Blazing Saddles cycle shop.
We cycled back over Fleet Moss, and then followed National Cycle Routes back to Skipton. The last 10 miles, however, we couldn’t avoid the busy B road, – the sooner a traffic free option becomes available the better.
At the top of Fleet Moss, yes he did cycle all the way, I just wasn’t quick enough to catch the action
