At New Year I suddenly wanted to feed the birds. At the time the weather was mild and damp so the birds didn’t really need it. But I wanted to see them in my garden. They come across the garden anyway in waves, flicking and chirping through the bushes and finding the berries but I thought it would be good to see them outside the window. So I bought bird feeders, peanuts and wild bird food. There were a few basic errors with the feeders when the bottom would drop off and spill peanuts in what must have seemed a bonanza to the wildlife. I think it was this that attracted the pair of jays to the area when they saw all those peanuts. I got that sorted and moved on to making a bird table, having read about putting a squirrel and cat protector on the underside of the table, this is what I tried to do. It works but it looks awful, and keeps bobbling sideways when bigger birds come to feed. The jays seem to be mostly responsible for knocking the table over, but they come early in the morning and I have not taken any photos of them feeding yet. Today I will put apples out to see if any waxwings or redwings are about who would like a bit.
Fabulous photos. By all accounts robins are extremely agressive birds, but they look so appealing and sweet.

Your coal tits look very similar to our black-capped chickadees – and could the robin possibly be any cuter?!
