We travel overnight to arrive at Sligachan at 1pm on Saturday
The weather is rainy, so we stay in the pub to wait for the bus at 10 to 5. We drink and eat then wander up to the Bunkhouse and the houses for rent, the lodge and nosey around the campsite. This time we are staying in Glen Brittle Memorial Hut, – the climbing Hut which is a brilliant place. When we arrive there is no-one else here except for the warden reading his way through the library of climbing books. We walk to the campsite shop for provisions. The forecast for the week is not very good.

It is still wet, and we walk down to the campsite again, it being the only shop for about 10 miles. We enjoy an ice cream on the beach in a rare moment of sun. We walk up Coire Banachdaich to find a climb, Hard Severe about 250m past Window Buttress and while we are there explore that side of the hill quite thoroughly. As it is wet and misty, we opt not to do the climb, and clamber instead up on to the ridge and return via the nose down into the valley. Late on, Heike arrives, – she is a climbing instructor, and has done loads of mountain stuff all over the world. We have seen her posts on Rocktalk.
