Walk up Es Teix, Mallorca

Easter Day 2012

Fabulous breakfast in the olive press room, with loads of courses, after which we were brought two freshly baked pies.   They are special Easter pies and a regional speciality called Empanades, but  more importantly, they are big and heavy and smell wonderful, being made of lamb and peas. We cycled  to Valdemossa and asked to leave our bikes at our favourite restaurant, where they showed us a space for them on the terrace. After discreetly getting changed into walking gear, we went to through the side streets to discover the start of the Archdukes path where we found a stony path ascending steeply  through the woods before coming out into magnificent views of a limestone scenery by the high white cliffs, and a wonderful limestone path wending its  way across the karst landscape up towards Es Teix. shortly before we arrived at the last ascent to the mountain a thick mist rolled in from the sea, and screened the view from us, except in tantalizing small patches. We ran back down the path on our way down and saw a Balear Mountain Goat
