In the end we just wanted somewhere sunny, so with a week to go, we booked a holiday in Tenerife in the centre of Los Christianos. We were leaving behind sub zero temperatures, and drifts of snow piled up blocking roads and lanes. And we were going to a land of constant even temperatures, pretty much the same at night as it is all day. Nobody needs central heating or tumble dryers as it is so warm all year round.
