On the way back from the Dolomites, we had to wait for a couple of hours at the Airport, so we took the water taxi into the centre of Venice, just having time for a quick whizz through the crowds to St Mark’s square before surging off up the canals back to the airport. Don’t take the taxi if you want to be on time or get anywhere fast, but do take one if you want to see the area in a way you never have done before.
