This small village stands at the confluence of the Gorges of the Tarn and the Jonte, and with access to all four of the Grands Causses, the high limestone plateaux. Originally the limestone was laid down evenly but over the millennia, the Rivers divided it into four blocks, – the Causses Sauveterre, Mejean, Noir and Larzac. Le Rozier is a larger village than Peyreleau, although only half a kilometre away and is where all the shops and most of the restaurants are.
