Ride onto Causse Sauveterre on tiny roads through the village of Liaucous situated under the spectacular cliffs of the Causse de Sauveterre. In Liaucous, there is a Romanesque church, which we stop to climb up the maze like steps to, while a ghostly dog howls from some tower sending shivers up the spine. Higher up beneath the cliffs are the troglodyte villages of Eglazines and St Marcellin.
We have another canoe trip on the safe section that enjoyed at first, from Le Rozier to Peyrelaade, to get rid of our misgiving about yesterday’s capsize episode. The sun is hot, the river beautiful and all is good. Today we have to pack the bikes up and clean the house ready to go.
