A stepped ginnel has made it into the news this week. It is known as The Old Chapel Steps and nobody knows who the owner of this stone stairway is. The old way is in a bad state of repair, being damaged, wobbly, slimy and without a handrail. They connect an upper and a lower road leading towards Lumbutts. After a search for the owner to no avail the council has closed them whilst trying to find the owner. They were probably once part of Knowlwood chapel which, along with the school, was demolished in the 1960s. So it is possible that nobody owns them.
