A clear sky with mountains in it. Walk to town and breakfast at an American style bar with J.J. Cale playing. Look for maps of Italy but can’t find any. A supermarket is selling whole food products and a tourist Alpine confectionery – a soft chocolate made of almonds filled with syrup of lavender, myrtle or eucalyptus. A degustation tray of these is mysteriously raided before we disappear from the shop. The sun feels really bright here and we think we might get burnt on our first Really High Col tomorrow.
