Myvatn Journey

Myvatn, Reykjahalid

We start out from the guest house in Akureyri on a damp cool morning, to take the bus to Myvatn. We stop at Godafoss to enjoy the spray drfting in the air from this powerful waterfall.  Along the way the sun comes out and the edge of the lake consists of beautiful volcanic outcrops and islands serried in the blue reflecting water.

The camp-site at Lake Myvatn is a beautiful green field, short grass undulating down to the lake which is full of a great variety of ducks of the world, We quickly put the tent up on a flat pitch and take the bus to the Krafla volcano, to look into the crater full of deep blue water and eat a sandwich before starting on a walk.
