Rain and wind beat against our woody roof through the night and when we get up it is still really misty. We hear the Australian girls commenting that it could easily be 5 o’clock the day before. The forecast suggests that the rain will go on all day. So we get togged up and walk down the path to the Kaiser Hutte, 500metres below us.

We use our umbrella to protect us as we descend through the wet cloud. At the grey Campolongo pass we have a coffee before taking two more chair lifts back up to Vallon. At the Crep de Munt is a modern massive alpine Centre where we lunch, with only a few others, again peering down into the mist wreathing around us. The best is seeing the cable cars appearing form nowhere in mid air.
About 4 pm a brightness occurs, and we get the via ferrata gear ready to go on a circuit before tea
