With just a pair of shoes and the clothes I stand up in, plus a light waterproof and a bit of money, I set off from Montmery to run up to 8,000feet, up to the Lac du Presset. First through the meadows and then on more rocky terrain, following paths. The route takes me up biside Pierra Menta, a mountain of Savoie, France. It lies in the Beaufortain Massif range. It has an elevation of 2,714 metres above sea level. The little path beside the stream that comes out of the Lac du Presset at 2,500 metres above sea level. Even in the middle of summer, the lake was still frozen when I visited.
