We ascend in the cable car to Pordoi, from where we can across the snowfields to Piz Boe (3152m). The snow is quite soft but there is some ice beneath and we are on quite angled slopes some of the time, sloping steeply to the valleys below. Clouds and mist are billowing up from the valley but we are mostly in a pool of sun.
The refuge is perched right on top of the mountain with a rustic Alpine toilet almost dangling above an abyss. As I am using it, the wind whips the door wide open and I am unable to do anything about it from my low position above the dark chasm.
