Setting out from the Refuge Dibona we walk along the edge of immense eroded Valon de Tofana where rock needles grow out of the scree. Soon we join a wartime mule track, path no. 403.
Finally we arrive via a long series of hairpins built into the steep slippery scree at the open saddle of Forcella Fontananegra between the Tofana di Mezzo and theTofana di Rozes peaks. Passing an area littered with buildings and artefacts remaining from the World War 1 trenches we arrive at the Rifugio Guissani (2580m)
